Tongsai Bay Cottages and Hotel, Koh Samui, Thailand

The Tongsai Bay is a little bay on the north-eastern most tip of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 800 kilometers from Bangkok, set in 25 acres of beautiful gardens and designed to blend harmoniously with the surroundings. This a peaceful resort with a private beach.

A mere 10 minute drive from Samui Airport where Bangkok Airways flies directly from Bangkok, in around 1 hour, the Tongsai Bay can be reached conveniently.

All 83 rooms in a vast area of 25 acres of land, surrounded by tropical nature, offer sea view with 4 main types of accommodation namely Beachfront Suites, Cottages Suites, Tongsai Grand Villas and Tongsai Pool Villas.

24 Beachfront Suites are in a 3-storeyed building next to the beach and pools. All have a secluded bathtub, 2 sun loungers, a dining and writing table and full fronted sea views. 8 Suites on the ground floor are suitable for families in a way that each has a direct access from the balcony to the beach and pools and its overall size is as large as 86 m2 divided into 36 m2 balcony, 44 m2 air-conditioned area and 6 m2 backyard as opposed to the upper floor suites which are only 72 m2.

Due to larger area and ground location, Beachfront Suites on the ground floor can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under 12 and are more suitable for families.

41 cottages are dotted around the hill leading down to Tongsai’s private beach. They are well hidden by the existing trees which only a few of them were cut down when we first built the cottages. All Cottage Suites offer sea view from their terraces but because there’re lots of trees, the view can be partial or at an angle. Being situated on a different location, each cottage has individual characters, the variation in shape, size and angles of scenery. The standard sizes of cottages are 68-78 m2 and can only take 3 people maximum.

12 units of cottage suites are called "SEAFRONT COTTAGES " they are the same as cottage suites except that all are situated on the seafront providing point blank view of the sea. Besides these 41 Cottages Suites, there are three other cottages: McGuigan Cottage, Hideaway Cottage and Viewpoint Family Cottage

:: Hideaway Cottage (120 m2) ::

So as to live up to its name, this cottage is built in a splendid isolation bringing out the unbound, limitless sea view but with some distance away from the beach. It is for those who are willing to trade a long walk for ultimate seclusion and glorious view.

:: McGuigan Cottage (120 m2) ::

This cottage has been honourably named after our “Papa and Mama”, who have visited us every consecutive year since 1990 and stayed approximately 4 months each time. This cottage has a large terrace and is very close to the beach, sea view and the pool area.

:: Viewpoint Family Cottage (160 m2 + two bedrooms) ::

The total area of Viewpoint Family Cottage is 160 m2. The teakwood interior decoration gives the cottage a very warm and cosy atmosphere. This cottage has 2 bedrooms, 2 toilets, 2 shower rooms and 2 bathtubs and can accommodate up to 5 people (adults or children) maximum. The location is on the top of the hill offering magnificent panoramic sea views.

These 9 Tongsai Grand Villas and 2 other special villas were open for business in December 1998. They are on the hillside on the right-hand side of The Tongsai Bay, opposite to where Cottage and Beachfront Suites stand. They are created in compliance with our philosophy to encourage guests to go back to nature wherever and whenever possible.

Undergone the renovation in December 2005, each of the 9 villas now has a total area of 170 m2 with an open-air area of 116 m2 on the terrace and the back of each Villa and 54 m2 of air-conditioned bedroom area. The unique outdoor terrace features a bathtub for bathing alfresco, a gazebo where guests can sleep outside if they wish (the hotel provides mosquito nets) and a small pantry-bar area, a dining table and sun loungers.

:: Guvnor Villa (Three-bedroom Grand Villa) ::

This villa is a combination of two adjoining villas plus a small, extra bedroom and an open-air common area in the middle. It is large enough for a big family, up to 8 people (adult or children) maximum. The air-conditioned small bedroom is equipped with the standard room amenities but no view.

4 Tongsai Pool Villas (185 m2) are the most recent type of accommodation, added in December 2003 and completed its refurbishment in December 2005. They are in the same area as Tongsai Grand Villas, offering the same facilities as Grand Villa as well as its own private plunge pool of 3x5 metres.

:: Guvnor Pool Villa (Three-Bedroom Pool Villa) ::

It is a two-villa duplex interconnected by a small bedroom and with its own private pool. The small bedroom; however, has no view. The whole unit can accommodate a family of 6 adults without adding the extra bed.

Chef Chom’s Thai Restaurant is located on the hill leading down to the beach, right by the Lobby Lounge. It is named after the renowned Chef Piengchom Dhabanand, who comes form a family of cooks who used to serve in the palace of the late Princess Vibhavadee Rangsit. The restaurant seats 100 persons a maximum indoor and on the terrace. It offers spectacular views over the bay.

	Open 07:00 - 10:30 hrs.	International Buffet Breakfast with an OPEN BAKERY making fresh-from-the-oven bread, rolls and croissants for breakfast. Guests can watch their bread being baked right in front of them.
	Open 19:00 - 22:00 hrs.	Royal Thai Cuisine with a la carte menu and occasional theme nights also with open kitchen and fresh seafood.

Floyd’s Beach Bistro is located on the beachfront and next to the main swimming pool. It is named after the famous BBC chef, Keith Floyd. Partly open-air and partly air-conditioned, it seats 60 persons maximum.

Floyd's offers contemporary international cuisine (Chinese, Thai, and Western), right on the beach. More like a beach cafe during the day and a restaurant by night. Open 11.00 - 24.00 hrs. lunch & Dinner.

The Butler's Restaurant is located on the hillside and adjacent to the half-moon swimming pool within a few minutes' walk from the Tongsai Grand Villa.

It serves predominantly European cuisine in an intimate atmosphere with only 20 seats available. 'Sip' Internet Cafe : Located right on the beach, Sip offers a wide range of tea, coffee. and home-made cakes and pies, as well 2 computers for internet connection (free of charge for the first 15 minutes). Open 10.00 - 24.00 hrs.

Lobby Lounge Bar : You can see the beach and the pool through a forest of coconut trees from the terrace at the lobby lounge. It's the perfect place to relax with a cool drink in the heat of the day, or to while away evenings listening to live music. Open 10.00 - 24.00 hrs.

Floyd's Beach Bar : This is the centre of everything during the day. Have lunch, enjoy your favorite drinks , and benefit from the incoming breeze of the sea. Open 11.00 - 02.00 hrs.

Prana Spa specializes in a relaxing technique whereby the mind and body synchronised, which can help control or decrease the stress response. When tension is relaxed, the muscle ceases to contract while blood vessels reduce vascular constriction and allow circulation to flow freely.

Open daily for massages and spa treatments from 11:00 - 22:00 hrs. Each of the 3 private rooms has 2 massage beds, 2 treatment beds, foot massage area, either a rainfall or a waterfall shower, a floral bath and a steam room. Privacy is enhanced with each spa cottage limited to 2 people. Reservation in advance is required.

Private Beach & Pool

Our Private Beach is 200 metres long and never gets crowded. The whole Tongsai Bay is yours. You can sunbathe in peace, no beach vendors, no stray dogs, and no passersby. Our main, free form, swimming pool is right by the beach next to Floyd’s Beach Bistro and the Beachfront Suite Building.

It is accompanied by a small Jacuzzi pool and a children’s wading pool. Another half moon-shaped swimming pool is added above ‘Sip’ Internet Cafe. Children under 14 are not allowed in this area to keep the area tranquil and peaceful.
